About a month ago I was scrolling through Facebook as I often do, and I saw a Buzzfeed article about this revolutionary bra that is flattering but also comfortable. This immediately interested me and I watched a video about a bra company named "ThirdLove". I was completely on board by the end of the video, ThirdLove has this really cool idea where they have customers fill out questionnaires about their breast then  the right bra for your breast type is recommended. AMAZING. They even have an app that you can use to get your measurements since we all know bra size varies from store to store.

 Hi! I've been very excited to write this "What's in the Box" blog post all about the Influenster Spirit Vox Box. To start off you may be asking what is a vox box? What is Influenster? Mikayla, have you ever thought about how your mail carrier probably thinks you have an online shopping addiction with all of these boxes being delivered to your house? Well, I have the answers to all of these questions.

  I first heard of Influenster while on twitter. I saw a girl advertising a Covergirl foundation that she got in the mail to sample. I was immediately interested. Free stuff?! Free makeup at that?! Where do I sign up?! As I browsed the website I realized it was not as easy signing up and receiving samples right away (Bummer, I know. Sorry!) Influenster has these things called Vox Boxes. Vox Boxes are boxes of samples that Influenster gets from bigger companies, they sort the samples into boxes that match a persons interest of lifestyle and then send the boxes to Influensters who review products often on Influenster or connect to their social media accounts. There also a system called snaps where you you give information on yourself and the type of products you use. The trick with Influenster is to have the most followers on your connected social media accounts, review products often, and fill out the snap so you get picked for products that relate to you.

Why It's OK To Be A Little Basic

My friends at Urban Dictionary define the word "Basic" as, "An adjective used to describe any person, place, or activity involving obscenely obvious behavior, dress, or action." Before I even was using the term though, I knew I wanted to be the opposite of basic. Thinking back to when I was 11 or 12 I remember having such a desire to be considered different from other people, especially other girls. I think many people feel the pressure to be "not like other...(insert identity here)".

Over the last three months of being 20 I have realized a few things. Most of these things however have nothing to do with adulthood and involve how to re-purpose furniture and add equity to your home. Hi and a very happy belated Valentines Day!

Today I'm going to be reviewing the Birchbox February Box that I received a couple of weeks ago. In case you do not know what Birchbox is, it is a subscription service for makeup, hair, and lifestyle products, where you pay $10 a month and in return receive a box in the mail with 5 different samples in it. These samples are based off your profile that you create where you tell them what kind of products you like, your skin type, your hair type, ect.

I have had a Birchbox subscription for 4 months now and I absolutely love it. Even when I get products I would not normally buy, I still have fun trying them out. This month's box has definitely been one of my favorites inside and out. It is following the theme of preparing for a Valentines date which I think is really cute and the box's minimal stick illustrations were totally up my alley.

Welcome to Fluent in Living

Hi to my followers new and slightly less new. I'm Mikayla and I just want to take the time to tell you a little bit about me and my blog.

I have finally decided to take the plunge and start my own lifestyle blog. I have been wanting to make a blog since I was 11 years old. Growing up, I was obsessed with magazines and always thought it would be so cool to have a blog where I could make my own mini-magazine about things I'm interested in. The problem with starting one up is that I'm a perfectionist and I wanted to have the look of my blog to be a certain way before I got started. Due to my lack of coding skill this took longer than expected, but I am happy to say with the help from some people who are way better at coding than me, I finally have a template that I can work with!

I have a few ideas I have been thinking about for a while now, but long story short I want this to be a place where I can talk about makeup, the thing I love to do, while also talking about other things like movies/tv shows, books, things I buy, and my life in general.

I want to end this first post by saying a little about myself, although I'm sure if you're seeing this you already know me. I'm a 20 year old college student who is currently studying to be a ASL interpreter. This means I spend a lot of time around deaf people and going to events involving deaf people. I have a boyfriend named Marshall who will pop up on here a lot because he is my best friend and we probably hang out a little too much, in fact he came up with the original name for the blog (theside-eye). I live in Ohio and I love it here 95% of the time. I work at a children's museum where I teach kid's about language. I probably watch every movie and tv show ever, it's a serious problem. The most important thing though is I've always been a creator. Whether its drawing, painting, writing, or decorating. I have a constant need to make this world a prettier place!

I changed the name of this blog to Fluent in Living because I just love finding little life hacks that make life easier and sometimes prettier.
